First week reflection of S.T Augustine HS, Mararikulam ( 28/07/2025 - 01/08/2025)

My first week at St. Augustine High School, Mararikulam, was a valuable experience. We reached on time and received the timetable and guidance from the teachers, who were very supportive. The school provided a lively atmosphere with a special assembly that created a sense of unity among the students. I was allotted English classes in Standard IX and taught the lesson The Toilet from the unit Winds of Change, focusing on the themes of survival, longing for freedom, isolation, and societal restrictions. The students responded positively to my questions, though there were some disturbances which I managed while continuing the class. I also got the opportunity to witness the preparations for the science exhibition, which showed the creativity and enthusiasm of the students. Overall, the week gave me confidence and helped me realize the importance of planning, classroom management, and active student engagement.

Week 8 Reflection During this week, I continued my classes in Standard 8 with the lesson Talking of Science and in Standard 9 with the poem Sea Fever. Along with the regular lessons, we also conducted a science quiz, which engaged the students actively and helped them develop more interest in the subject. This being my final week of training, it was a special one. On Friday, at the end of the day, we shared sweets with the children and offered snacks to the teachers and staff as a small token of gratitude. It was a memorable conclusion to my teaching practice, filled with warmth and appreciation.

2nd Phase Week 1 ( 10/11/2025-14/11/2025)

Week 1 Reflection – Second Phase Teaching Practice Our second phase of teaching practice began at St. Augustine H.S., Mararikulam, and the week unfolded with a mix of excitement and unexpected changes. On the very first day, we were assigned to handle classes 8 A, 8 B, and 8 C, and we looked forward to beginning our lessons with renewed enthusiasm. However, the schedule did not progress as planned. The students of Class 10 had a three-day tour, which led to disruptions in the timetable, and as a result, the 8th and 9th standard classes had no regular periods for most of the week. Despite these challenges, the school atmosphere remained lively. Friday was celebrated as Children’s Day, and the campus was filled with joy and colour. Various programmes were organised for the students, bringing smiles to their faces and creating a cheerful end to an otherwise irregular week.
