Week 2 (19/01/2026- 23/01/2026)
Teaching Practice –Week 2
The second week of my teaching practice during Phase 2 was both engaging and demanding, as it offered opportunities to handle regular classes as well as substitution periods. I was allotted Class 8A, where I continued teaching the chapter “Village of the Watermills” by Akira Kurosawa. Entering the classroom with greater confidence than the previous week, I felt more comfortable managing the class and guiding discussions around the text.
The lesson focused on helping students understand the village setting and the deeper message of harmony between humans and nature. Students actively responded to questions, and their answers showed a growing interest in the narrative and its themes. I tried to encourage participation by asking simple, thought-provoking questions and appreciating their responses, which created a positive classroom atmosphere.
In addition to my regular classes, I was assigned substitution periods. Though unplanned, these sessions helped me develop flexibility and quick decision-making skills. I used the time productively by engaging students in reading activities and informal discussions, which strengthened my classroom management abilities.
Overall, Week 2 was a meaningful learning experience. It helped me reflect on my teaching methods, improve my interaction with students, and adapt to unexpected responsibilities. This week reinforced my understanding that effective teaching requires preparation, adaptability, and a genuine connection with learners.
