Week 3 ( 27/01/2026)
Week 3 of Phase 2 teaching practice was both demanding and meaningful, as it marked the final week of our one-day teaching practice in January. I had classes in 8A, where I continued teaching the chapter “Village of the Watermills” by Akira Kurosawa. In addition to my scheduled class, I was also assigned substitution periods, which required flexibility and quick classroom management.
Teaching Village of the Watermills helped me deepen my engagement with the text as well as with the learners. I focused on guiding students to understand the values highlighted in the lesson, such as simplicity, harmony with nature, and contentment. The students were attentive and participated actively during discussions, especially when the lesson was linked to real-life situations. This reinforced my belief that meaningful learning happens when literature is connected to students’ lived experiences.
Handling substitution classes was a new learning experience. Though unplanned, it helped me develop confidence, adaptability, and better classroom control. Managing different classes within the same day improved my time management and decision-making skills. I learned to stay calm, organized, and responsive to the needs of students in unexpected situations.
As this was the last week of teaching practice, it gave me an opportunity to reflect on my overall growth as a teacher trainee. I became more confident in lesson delivery, interaction with students, and handling classroom situations independently. This week strengthened my understanding that teaching is not just about content delivery, but also about patience, preparedness, and adaptability. The experiences from Week 3 will remain valuable as I move forward in my teaching journey.
